Motherhood is better with friends. It's that simple. It took me a while to realise that self care for me, was as much catching up with my nearest and dearest as it is face masks and long hot showers.
The sense of relief you get when you decompress to a fellow mum and realise that it's not just you that struggles with motherhood is overwhelming. And that finding the littlest things hard is so normal.
Social media allows us to put our best self out for the world to see and then we compare that to the other perfect profiles. All the while crumbling under the pressure offscreen because let's face it, babies are hard. Not always, but teeth suck. And leaps and washing and not sleeping for years on end. For me, having in person catch ups with someone who can relate to what you are going through is invaluable. Because unless you are a mum, you don't get it.
If you have been putting off calling that fellow mumma friend, go do it. Right now. It will fill your soul and give you the confidence to push through your hiccup and start fresh. Because motherhood is better with friends.
