For the love of funky fashion

I come from a very entrepreneurial family. My uncle rode motor bikes when he was a kid, so my granny learnt how to sew the leather suits and all his friends wanted one too. So they started making leather jackets and my grandpa to this day at 85 still does repairs for his old customers. 

This spun off into my mum selling leather bikinis in the 90's. Not just leather bikinis of course, but that was my memory as a kid, at fashion parades of fringed leather bikinis. So. Dam. 90's.

She went on to sell leather shoes, bags and accessories and ran a very successful shop for 30 years (or more probably) on the Sunshine Coast QLD.

Once she "retired" (can I just say crafty people don't retire!) I sprung at the opportunity to work together. We had run 2 business together in the past so knew that we worked well together. I had just had my third boy and we designed a range of breastfeeding and maternity clothing which I went on to sell online for nearly 5 years. 

My youngest starts school next year, and for me I was having another identity crisis. This time I couldn't blame just having kids and not having time, this one was on me. I felt frumpy half the time and wanted a whole new wardrobe but I struggled with finding clothes that suit me. I am 6ft tall and deceivingly curvy so everything is either too tight, too short, too big in the waist if it fit everywhere else. 

I have decided to focus more on selling everyday clothing and packed up shop on the breastfeeding and maternity clothing. I have opened a store in Old Petrie Town Brisbane and currently in transition to the new brand Willow & Spring.

I have always loved helping mums find clothing that just suits their body shape. A point of difference for the way we design clothing is that our clothing samples come in a size 14-18 which means they are approved on how they fit that size, rather than a size 8 and graded a million times to get to an 18.
